Maurits van der Veen is an Assistant Professor in Government at the College of William & Mary. His research is situated at the intersection between international and comparative political economy, seeking to understand the political choices and economic expenditures associated with policies that do not appear to be straightforwardly self-interested. His research examines the ways policymakers think about foreign policy, and the impact that different frames have on policy choices. He received his BA from Dartmouth College, an MS in computer science from Stanford University, and a PhD in government from Harvard University.
