Higher Education Solutions Network (HESN)
As part of USAID’s Higher Education Solution Network (HESN), the AidData Center for Development Policy creates geospatial data and tools to more effectively track aid. The Center is one of seven Development Labs working with USAID under the HESN initiative to solve challenging development problems through innovative uses of science, technology, and engineering.
The Center, headquartered at the College of William and Mary, is a partnership between Development Gateway, Brigham Young University, the University of Texas at Austin, and Esri to make aid information more relevant and accessible. Geocoded information can better inform the decision-making processes of development practitioners and policymakers. The Center assists development stakeholders in visualizing where aid funds are going, for what purposes and with what results. AidData is currently working to geocode all development finance activities in Nepal, Senegal, Uganda, Haiti, and Timor-Leste. We will also be working to geocode activities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Honduras in the coming months.
