Geospatial Data and Analysis for Monitoring and Evaluation

May 31, 2023

The use of GIS to support policy, planning and monitoring is expanding with the integration of GIS technology in field. As more and more monitoring systems were developed in the last decade, data and information is increasingly available for ongoing monitoring and evaluation of programs, plans, and activities. A growing number of departments/agencies have moved beyond basic facility mapping to more advanced applications that combine various GIS techniques, outputs, and routine datasets to conduct geospatial analysis. The addition of geospatial data for project variables has become an attractive solution. There is now an incredible opportunity for evaluators to use geospatial data more effectively and efficiently.

Join us for an event on geospatial data for M&E, held as part of gLocal's Evaluation Week, powered by the Global Evaluation Initiative in partnership with CERP, the Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan. Dr. Ammar A. Malik, Senior Research Scientist and Director of the Chinese Development Finance Program at AidData, will moderate a conversation with Dr. Ariel BenYishay, Chief Economist and Director of Research and Evaluation at AidData; Alice Duhaut, Economist in the Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) department of the World Bank; and Muhammad Omar Masud, CEO of Urban Unit.
