The China-Global South conference: Mapping China’s political and information influence in the Global South
Samantha Custer, Director of Policy Analysis, discussed findings from AidData's recent report on Corridors of Power: Corridors of Power: How Beijing uses economic, social, and network ties to exert influence along the Silk Road, as part of a panel on Mapping China’s political and information influence in the Global South. In conversation were Joseph Asunka, CEO of AfroBarometer, Parsifal D’Sola Founder and CEO of the Andrés Bello Foundation–China Latin America Research Center and a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council's Global China Hub, and Christopher Walker, Vice President for Studies and Analysis at the National Endowment for Democracy.
The China-Global South conference is part of a new joint initiative by Notre Dame and the Atlantic Council to work with local partners to better understand and respond to China’s strategic intentions, methods, and ultimate political and economic impacts in the Global South.
