Background
Simone Dietrich is Associate Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. She was previously a Senior Lecturer of Government at the University of Essex and Director of ESSEXLab, the University's social science experimental lab. Prior to joining Essex, she was Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Her research in international and comparative political economy, democratization, and development investigates which attributes of foreign aid are effective at helping countries develop, and examines the conditions under which foreign aid shapes democratic change abroad. She received her PhD in political science from Pennsylvania State University in 2011.
