In March 2012, AidData and the Climate Change and African Political Stability (CCAPS) program created an interactive mapping tool that provides a complete picture of the interaction between climate change, aid, governance, and conflict across the African continent in a visually engaging form. The CCAPS program, housed at the Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law at the University of Texas at Austin, analyzes how climate change, conflict, governance, and aid intersect to impact African and international security.

Researchers and practitioners use the CCAPS dashboard to investigate where and how climate change poses threats to stability in Africa, the role of government institutions in mitigating or aggravating the effects of climate change on political stability, and evaluate the effectiveness of development assistance to help African countries adapt to climate change.
